Elixir

Gemstone elixir * Crystal essence * Crystal water

  • Gemstone elixirs are a convenient way to use the vibrational energies of the crystals for crystal healing, magic and more. They are easy to make and can be stored for later use. You can use one crystal or even several different types to make a gemstone elixir. Using multiple types creates a synergy blend.
  • You can create gemstone elixirs using the indirect method. This method is the safest for all crystal types because the elixir waters do not come in direct contact with the stones used. The direct method (where the stones are placed directly in the water) can be potentially dangerous if the stones used have components that may be toxic.

To prepare the elixir you will need:

  • The crystal(s) whose energies you want to imbue the elixir with
  • Additional crystals of the same type(s) or Rock Crystal to assist with charging the elixir (optionally)
  • Two clean glasses or glazed ceramic containers (food-safe) that fit one inside the other with some room between the smaller container and the larger one
  • Two clean dark colored glass bottles (one larger and one smaller for the finished crystal essence)
  • A clean glass dropper (to fit the smaller bottle, or it can be separate)
  • Spring water or distilled water.
  • Vodka (80 proof or higher) or vinegar as a preservative and to “fix” the crystal vibrations
  • A calm, centered state of mind
  • Sunlight, moonlight or a dedicated sacred space (outdoors or in a window that gets sun or moon light, or it may be on your personal altar or other sacred space)

To make the elixir you will need:

  • Clear the crystals (you may also charge them)
  • Clear your mind of concerns. Breath techniques or meditation can help with this.
  • State your intent for the elixir out loud. Ask the crystals for assistance with making this elixir.
  • Place the larger container you will be using to charge the water with the crystal energy where you will be creating the gemstone elixir.
  • Place the crystal(s) in the smaller glass container (seal it if possible)
  • Place the smaller container in the larger container.
  • Carefully pour as much water into the larger container.
  • You can arrange the additional crystals around the outside of the container pointing in toward the container.
  • Leave the containers in the sunlight, moonlight or sacred space for at least four hours.
  • Remove the inner container and pour the charged water from the larger container into the larger bottles (filling it halfway).
  • Fill the bottle the rest of the way with the vodka or vinegar for preservative and seal it.
  • Add a small portion of the preserved gemstone elixir to the smaller bottle for immediate use.
  • Thank the crystal(s) for helping create this elixir.
  • Clean everything used and store safely for future use.
  • Crystal waters can be made the same way for immediate use with only one bottle for storage (do not add the preservative). These crystal essences can be stored for a few days in the refrigerator in a sealed container. You may also charge the waters with Reiki energy for healing. Soft stones should not be placed in water as they may dissolve or “melt”. Anything with a mohs hardness of 4 is likely to dissolve. Softer stones can be taped to the container.
  • Always use filtered or purified bottled water, never tap water!
  • Make sure your crystals are properly cleansed before using.!
  • Never use raw stones (always use tumbled, polished “pocket stones”)! Raw stones can dissolve or chip and you’ll end up swallowing pieces of your stone!
  • Don’t swallow your stone and don’t use a stone that is so small that you might swallow it!
  • Make sure that you only use stones that are non-toxic!
  • Make sure your stones have a Mohs Hardness of 7 or more before putting them in water! You can always use the indirect elixir making method for softer stones!

If you want to get an extra boost, drink your water with your stone in it from a reusable drinking bottle that is made in a color that corresponds energetically with what you’re trying to resonate with. You can simply match the color of the bottle to the color of the stone you’re using.

Avoid potentially toxic or harmful crystals when using the direct method of making gem elixirs. Be cautious and use the indirect method for making gem elixirs and crystal water unless you’re certain of what you’re doing. To be on the safe side consider the list below of potentially toxic and harmful crystals.

NOTE: Pay particular attention when you are using with raw/natural crystals for gem elixirs or crystal water. If you have any doubt as to toxic or harmful crystals, simply use the indirect method or place the crystals around and outside of the container. You may find contradictory information elsewhere as to potentially toxic and harmful crystals. Consult a professional mineralogist for safety purposes.
